The nonprofit organization, Kheprw Institute, whose mantra is community empowerment through self-mastery, operates empowerment enterprises to financially sustain the organization and to help further develop the skills of all it’s participants. KI NuMedia came to be after Arie Gatewood, a young intern who had been with Kheprw from the beginning, decided to follow in the footsteps of her brother (a former Kheprw pupil) Damon Taziyah to become a web/graphic designer. While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications at IUPUI, she began studying Content Management Systems under Imhotep Adisa by taking on small projects to build skills. Thus, KI NuMedia was born.
Meanwhile, Menelik Diop Adisa, a founding member of Kheprw, studied Philosophy at Indiana University. He graduated and returned home to take on a management role at the KI EcoCenter, the physical entity of the Kheprw Institute where he developed his management skills even further. He became lead project manager of KI NuMedia taking the empowerment enterprise to new heights. Under his management, KI NuMedia has worked with many entities from Million Person Project to Cummins.
KI NuMedia produces web, graphic and video design as well as provides social media and content management for organizations and businesses that need marketing and branding assistance. We also provide technological training for interns and youth as well as employment for skilled community members. We strive to adhere to the KI mantra of “Community Empowerment Through Self-Mastery” by providing visual representations of that mantra through our creations therefore resulting in “Design For Empowerment”.
